Valid Clues for Zero Point EnergyFrom: "WILLIAM A. RHODES" <warlab@aztecfreenet.org> Every important paper on ZPE from Nicola Tesla's era to the present was obtained from Internet and other sources. These are inclusive of Dr. Edwin Armstrong, Casimir, Dr. Kip Thorne, Nicola Tesla and hordes of minor ones. Dr. Thorne's mathematics shows, but doesn't prove the unreasonably high levels of ZPE obtainable from vacuum. Of the several hundred documents, only one exhibits threads of practical evidence -- Dr. Edwin Armstrong. Dr. H.E. Puthoff spent ten years of fruitless experimenting and said, "Does evidence exist for recovery of enough ZPE energy to be practical? Probably not." However, Dr. Armstrong's paper in Proceedings of The Institute of Radio Engineers, Armstrong, Aug 1922. Pages 244, 245,246, pro- vides positive proof. "There are three conceivable relations between the negative and positive resistances: Namely-- The negative resistance introduced... Pages 245, 246. "In the third case the negative resistance introduced into the circuit is greater than the positive resistance, and the effective resistance of the circuit is therefore negative. When an emf is impressed upon a circuit in this condition, a free and forced oscillation is set up which have some interesting properties. The amplitude of the forced oscillation is determined by the value of the impressed emf, divided by the resultant resistance of the circuit. THE FREE OSCILLATION STARTS WITH AN AMPLITUDE EQUAL TO THE FORCED OSCILLATION, AND BUILDS UP TO INFINITY REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT EXTERNAL EMF IS REMOVED. This free oscillation starts with an amplitude which is proportional to the impressed force, and this proportionality is maintained throughout any finite time interval (with constant impressed electromotive force). It is important to note that although the negative resistance of the circuit exceeds the positive, and the effective resistance of the circuit is negative, oscillations WILL NOT OCCUR until some emf is impressed. ONCE AN EMF IS IMPRESSED, HOWEVER, NO MATTER HOW SMALL IT MAY BE, THE CURRENT IN THE CIRCUIT BUILDS UP TO INFINITY REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THE EXTERNAL EMF IS RE- MOVED. PARA 3. It is of course impossible with present-day instruments to set up a system in which the negative resistance exceeds the positive without production of oscillations in the system, since any irregularity in filament emission or impulse produced by atmospheric disturbances is sufficient to initiate oscillation which builds up to the carrying capacity of the tube. It is however possible, by means of various expedients, to set up systems which avoid the production of such paralyzing oscillations and which approximate the theoretical case in the use of a free oscillation to produce amplification." I subsequently designed a two-stage solid-state experiment based on the Armstrong data. After battery disconnect it yielded 30 seconds of continuous operation. Due to more urgent matters, it stands ready for further research. All other references are vacant conjecture. No other experimental evidence was found. The Armstrong device used vacuum tubes with moderately high voltage and current. In his quest for results, other than to note its ability to continue running when exterior voltage was withdrawn, he completely overlooked the ZPE effect. Data presented here contains valid clues toward further ZPE development. Dr. Armstrong created regeneration, superregeneration and the superheterodyne,
