Hydrogen from Water Story Full of Holes

H. Rap Pringle, M.S. Engineering, comments on "Alternative Energy Corp. Perfecting Hydrogen from Water" story.

(Pringle places his comments in parenthesis.)

I have a question,

do you just present "news" or do you actually think this stuff is for
realn?

Cause as an Engineer with a masters degree, it certainly sounds like
GOBOLTYGOOP!

"Depending on how we mix the metallic components, we can either
increase or decrease the yield of hydrogen for a particular system's
needs," said Bart Seigel, Director of Engineering at AEC.

(I hope Siegel is not a MOT because if he is it's a SHANDA)

The alloy "sets up a catalytic reaction that results in the cracking
of water," said Seigel.

(Cracking is heat induced distruction of large Organic molecules.)

The process is pH sensitive.

(of course it is, the metal dissolves in water liberating hydrogen,
NaOH makes this easier)

The alloy tablets will contain the necessary pH-effecting chemicals so
that when the mixture is added to water, hydrogen bubbles out at a
particular rate.  The hydrogen then runs whatever application for
which it is required -- on demand.  No storage necessary.

(yes uses up the metal, not big deal here, You've just made the
biggest Carol Doda Special)

The theory of how this is accomplished is not yet fully developed.

(you mean your story changes every day)

"The polar positioning of the metals somehow results in the changing
of the properties of the metal," said Seigel.

(you mean it works on the North pole but not the South)

The alloy apparently "creates a magnetic field" that is involved in
catalyzing the splitting of the hydrogen from the two oxygen molecules
of water.

("creating a magentic field" is only digging you deeper, better you
should not have mentioned that)

In the past, they were having problems with oxidation -- or scumming
-- of the alloy.  They have resolved this now with the addition of a
"promotor" in the mix.  Oxygen combines with the alloy in the
reaction.  Thus the alloy is eventually spent and requires replacement.

(AH HA! I smell the skunk already)

[..]

The raw materials for the secret alloy are found in abundance and will
be easy to produce in mass quantities if this technology should become
widespread.

(Yes every person has these raw material in her kitchen)

"No high-energy process is required in obtaining the alloy -- only
mining," said Seigel.

(This is a downright lie Siegel, No metal is just "mined" unless you
are a cave man finding coper and gold nuggets, metals are SMELTED, a
process that uses a lot of energy)

Two of the metals are found ubiquitously in many mine tailings.

(Yes Zinc is found in many Copper mine tailings)

He envisions a bladder system that would add or remove water from the
reaction in order to start and stop the production of hydrogen.

(done that already)

[...]

A university with nuclear science specialty will also be analyzing and
the alloy and theorizing how the process takes place.

(I bet)

(Why did you throw that Nuclear stuff in there? You think that the
word has any cachet when your dealing with Zinc and Aluminum
matalurgy? Who are you trying to impress?)

[...]

Presently they are focused on building their company management
infrastructure.

( used car salemen would work fine, Preachers even better)
