Sourcing Quadrupole Magnets
Source presently not located. When located, this page will list
it. For now it lists the question.
Description
1.
You will need to find two quadrupole doughnut or ring shaped Ferrite ceramic
magnets measuring approximately 4
3/4" to 5" total diameter with a center hole measuring approximately 1
3/4" to 2" diameter. The thickness of the magnets should be approx.
1/2" to 3/4". Also if possible, try to use a similar quality energy
value Ferrite material as you have found for the other magnets in the assembly
to ensure proper beam projection. Also, these are the most important element in
the assembly of this device and these magnets must be quadropole magnets
NOT the typical bi-pole or di-pole magnets. Many more expensive units use
magnets with six or even eight separate poles in order to tune the ion beam to
the desired width and energy level.

Subject: Looking for quadrupoles:
Hi Sterling,
I was wondering if you might know some folks who may have an idea of
where in the world I could find the quadrupole magnets specified in the ISBP
instructions. I have been having a very difficult time finding anyone who
distributes these or even makes them supposedly. It seems very strange that only
15 years ago they were pretty much the norm for building speakers and microwave
ovens. I don't know if I've been blacklisted or if they really are that hard to
find anymore but, I could really use some help if you know anything or of anyone
who might. Some of my contacts have suggested using four radial magnets of two
different sizes that could fit together to essentially form a homemade
quadrupole doughnut shape but so far everything we've been able to find would
need to be machined in order to make them fit properly. Drop me a note if you
know or hear anything please? Thanks Sterling, Jim

Sterling,
I know that I can also get the word quadrupole be typing it into a
search. If you however look through what exactly has come up in the search, it
is information about quadrupoles. There are numerous kind of quadrupoles. I am
talking about the specific type that we need.
Thanks,
Jim
