Andy Graham's Replication of the Bowman Magnetic Motor
Intends to replicate and make publicly available when we're ready.

Subject: Bowman Motor from hard drive components
I
was on the phone just now with Andy Graham, who built
a Howard Johnson motor that he could not get to work
He's getting involved in this project to replicate the Bowman Motor that Doug Mann has been able to
get to work.
His slant is that he wants to try and make it using existing components that are ubiquitously
available. In particular, he has been playing around with old hard drives for some time, and says
they are full of great components that could be employed in the Bowman design.
Wouldn't it be awesome if you could go down to the local computer store and pick up an old hard
drive for free, then pick up some toy from the local toy store such as the little magnetic fishing
poles, extract the magnets from it, then build yourself a working magnetic motor. That would be
awesome.
The hard drives themselves come with a neo magnet.
Most hard drives use the same component specs. Most are about 4" in diameter, so they would
need to use smaller, less powerful magnets than the NEO32s that Doug is using in his device.
We would provide a template they could print out and use to place over the hard drive to know where
to drill the holes for the magnet.
Then a thousand times more people could build one.
