Bowman Magnet Motor Open Sourcing Project

Status: Project commenced Dec. 2003 with claim to a working device, which later, after three months, ended up running down due to demagnetization.  No replications were accomplished though several were attempted.

Lexan Polish and Scratch Remover

For any of you using Lexan for you Unit rotors and base. If you want to try to clean the Lexan up after cutting and drilling, these are 3 polishes that could do the trick. You will probably have to first get the big cut marks worked down with fine wet/dry sand paper first before using these polishes..

If anyone knows of another way to do this, let me know. I have heard of "fire glasing [glazing]" but don't know anything about it.

* All my parts are in except the gears and magnets, so I will start to build the base this weekend. I will try to get pictures of all the stages of the build so we can have a photographic record of all the steps using stock parts.

* I will also have my video production computer this weekend and I can start to put together an instructional video on building the unit.

Cutting Rotors

To cut rotors, I used a thin magic marker to draw the circle.  Then used a chop-saw to rough cut a polygon.  Then drilled the center, mounted a mandrel typically used to hold a wheel in a drill chuck.  Then chucked it onto my large drill press and sanded the edge concentric.  Quick and dirty, eh?

Commenced with the project Dec. 30, 2003
