Bowman Magnet Motor Open Sourcing Project

Status: Project commenced Dec. 2003 with claim to a working device, which later, after three months, ended up running down due to demagnetization.  No replications were accomplished though several were attempted.

Nomenclature for Bowman Motor Unit Replications

To keep from confusing discussions about variations, we need to set the context of our message by giving a code name to our replication, and including that in the subject line or at least high in the body of the message.

We propose the following nomenclature:

Unit [first.last initials] 1-[year] (for when replication attempt commenced) Andreas Rogge's replication would be
Unit AR 1-2003

When two initials are already used, three will be used, or the second letter of one of the names, e.g.
Unit AnR 1-2003

Only one unit will be called unit 0, and that is the one that started this
project -- Doug's first unit he had working.

We also should add something to the nomenclature that gives us at a glance the present status of the device:
is it in design phase? constructed but not working? working? used to work? disassembled?

IWe recommend the following code:

des = in design / assembly phase
blt = constructed but not working
wrk = working
str = worked but presently in storage
qt = quit working
dis = disassembled

So the Unit would be labeled, for example:
Unit M.H 1-2004-des
this would signify:
Mark Hayton's first replication commenced in 2004 is in design phase.
