Bowman Magnet Motor Open Sourcing Project

Status: Project commenced Dec. 2003 with claim to a working device, which later, after three months, ended up running down due to demagnetization.  No replications were accomplished though several were attempted.

Scroll down to rectangular magnets, they have the right type of polarity.

Adam's Magnets to Spec for $4.14 Each

Subject: [PES_BMM] Great deal on NEO32 magnets

I just got a quote from Adams Magnets for the magnets.
For 32 magnets it's just $4.14 each.
Size: .375 ± .005 Dia. X 1.750 ± .005 L
(These are NEO33 not NEO32..)

www.adamsmagnetic.com

Gauss tolerances for this material are ± 2% (11300 - 11700 Br)

Price breaks at 250 - 500 they said..

[click here for Excel file of the quote]

[Q] are these magnets 'cut from the same bar' for uniformity?

[A] they say they are

They said that since this size is custom they have to make it, so it will be
made all at once. So, to me that mean the magnets will all be made from the same stock. She added a comment to my order to maintain tight tollerances..

KDS Magnets - Makes Batches

I just got a call back from http://www.kdsmagnets.com/
Very nice people. They said that they create the custom length
magnets to order from the same batch to keep the tolerance between
the magnets very very close. Basically he said they create a
magnetic mixture for an order and create the entire order from that
mixture. He is finalizing the quote but he said that is would be
around $20-30 a magnet if I ordered 32. Again, they do not cut the
magnets from misc stock but create them as a set.

I will let you know the final price when they email me back.

Also, he said they use Neo33 which should not change any of the
magnetic properties to any great degree from Neo32.

Custom Build, Expensive

Subject: Re: [PES_BMM] Purpose

I have ordered my magnets.  I went with the NEO 32 to the exact size specified (3/8 diameter X 1.750 long, and 3/8 X 1/2 X 1.375 long.  These are custom built magnets and quite expensive.  But remember, it's a prototype!  I have purchased enough for three replications.  The round magnets are $16.50 each and the rectangle magnets were $75.00 each (Due to low quantity)  Anyone who would like to get a set of magnets form me, please let me know.  By the way, my magnets will be delivered January 31.  And the G rating is guaranteed to be nearly identical throughout the batch of 50 round magnets that I have ordered.  Ken Hegemann
