Ken Hegemann's MXLO Magnetic Motor replicationMXLO Magnet Motor Open Sourcing Project

Summary: This open sourcing project sponsored by Pure Energy Systems, based on a design by MXLO, commenced Mar. 3, 2004 and was active for about a month.  At least 14 (8 verified) replications were built, none of which worked, proving that MXLO plans are neither easy nor complete, contrary to what they insinuate on their site, which now redirects to the U.S. government's renewable energy site. On July 10, a hint about shielding was given that was not contained in the plans.

Built Another Unit; Doesn't Work Yet

Subject: [pes_mxlo] RE: My 3rd Unit MXLO

Hi All

Well I built another unit using new sides using the same 3/4" rings nickel plated and still it has the same habits of my Unit 2. Spent a lot of time trying to find the Zero spot and no luck. Next I will try dropping the stator 1/8" each day and test fully. Just a thought maybe using larger dia rings the focus or Zero spot might be different. MXLO says it should work but have they really tested using Nickel. I can't get a real answer on this? All we know is they used Zinc and Thomas says it works!! And Zinc would produce more voltage/current vs Nickel using the strip. And still might be the Key.

To this date no one has built the MXLO to 100% specs yet as far as I know. Correct me if wrong! Meaning that using 3/4" ring with 1/4" hole and 1/8" thick. And Zinc plated. No stock Yet.

I found a place at .75 cents and 3/4"dia 1/4" inside, 1/8" thick Zinc coated, but the catch is min order $150.00 US. Maybe I am crazy still trying but might be game for one more crack at it if someone
might want to help on order. Or just drop the project and save my money and work on my Bowman and others. So here is a last chance and any thoughts guys.

Regards
Wayne

Size is Full-Scale

Q. Did I understand right, that you built this 1/4-scale?

Hi

It is full scale on those pics. And have built 1/4 scale same results. I think the problem is zinc vs nickel plated.  Looking into this now.

Built; Photos; no go yet

Hi All
I posted my photos.

If you look I used fine thread to find Triangle
center. Used this as a reference point and worked around. The bearing
is from  a laptop center hub and balsa wood dowel with no screw on
top, just CA. It take very little to move the rotor and hardly no
friction. Using my finger it turns 180 locks up, then touch another
180.I spend many hours and still no go. Used thicker strips, copper
strips on top and bottom. Some said it should take off with no help is
this true.  [[Moderator SDA comment: yes, that is what MXLO claims -- starts spinning on its own when in proper orientation]] I might try little 1/8 cubes as helpers and see what
happens. I think maybe we are still missing a key part. Good luck to all

1/4-scale build

Hi Tom

That's worth a try, my 1/4 scale is built using cubes and working on
the real scale using 3/4" rings. My thought is to get graph paper with
fine squares and mark each position on the stator. Do marks every 90
degrees as you rotate the stator. Then you have some reference of what
you did. Have a blank board and moving it around one does not know if
you tried this position. I think is fine turning and make sure you use
16 gauge strip not tape. This is important. will know more this
weekend on my test.

Using Center Hub of Laptop HD for bearing

Hi
Just waiting for my rings to come in. But on all the photos it looks
like different rings for what they use. Maybe its the photos but when
I look at Ken's his have a larger dia in center. I did just ask them
this question now. We see on answer.  I am using the center hub form on
old laptop H/D its very small and turns very easy.  I had to cut it out
with cutter and has a metric screw in center.

And one wrapping 2 coils copper wire around the triangle I still can't
see how this produces so much voltage, maybe 100 turns of magnetic
wire, just don't get this?

Copper Wire on hand

I have lots of copper wire from 32# to 18# magnetic wire for my wind gen. If it does not spin then will try copper wire.

Sides Cut and Ready

Hi

I bought the plans a little while ago. Have rotor done and base built.  The sides are all cut and ready. Went to buy 3/4" dia rings and only had 44 in stock. Having 72 shipped today will be 6-8 days for my test.  I think the copper wire around outside is the power generator part. It should spin maybe with out this. Thought I would jump into this as waiting 2- gears for my Calloway bowman motor.
