International Compatibility
of the ScanGauge II
A word about compatibility, and terms for purchasing
outside the U.S.
We
will ship internationally outside U.S..
However, the problem is determining compatibility. (Canadian compatibility
is essentially the same as U.S.)
Determining Compatibility
The ScanGauge is compatible with vehicles that use either OBDII or EOBD.
Vehicle under 8500 pounds gross vehicle weight ratings were required to use
OBDII in the USA starting in 1996. Vehicles up to 14,000 pounds were added in
1998.
Canada began requiring OBDII in 1998.
EOBD is the European equivalent of OBDII. EOBD was phased in between 2002 and
2004 in most European and other non-North American (NA) countries. Some non-NA
vehicles had OBDII/EOBD much earlier than this. If the model was commonly
exported to North America, they would use it. Models that were not exported to NA didn't
add it until it was required.
To confuse things further, some vehicles used the OBDII/EOBD connector, but only
the vehicles equipped with the North American engine controller had the protocol and
messaging to be compatible.
You need to be able to determine if the target vehicle is OBDII or EOBD
compatible.
The number of incompatibilities becomes far more complex outside the U.S. and
Canada, increasing the likelihood of a request for a return.
Terms of International Sale
You need to realize that there is a probability that the ScanGauge II
will not be compatible with your vehicle, even though it might be the same
make/model as a U.S. or Canadian model listed as "compatible".
You need to review the information above, and look at the photo of the OBDII
connector, and confirm that your vehicle is most likely compatible. You
might also contact your local automobile dealer or manufacturer to ask about
compatibility.
With that in mind, if you are willing to agree to not return the
ScanGaugeII after we ship it to you, and want to give it a try, and then pass it
on to someone else if it doesn't work for you (e.g. via eBay), then we will ship to you.
We will honor the 1-year Warranty for any defects in the item.
There is an added fee of $30.00 for international shipping and handling.
Yes, the ScanGauge can display in metric units.
